Erling Rimestad has served as Norway's Ambassador to the Netherlands since 2024, while also serving as Permanent Representative to the OPCW and the ICC. He brings extensive experience in international trade, business promotion, and the green transition, having served as Director General of the Trade Policy Department at Norway's Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries, Senior Adviser for Business Promotion and Green Transition at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and State Secretary (Deputy Minister) for Foreign Affairs. Throughout a diplomatic career spanning more than three decades, including postings in Japan, the United States, Singapore, and the Netherlands, he has worked extensively on issues related to international trade, industrial competitiveness, energy transition, and economic cooperation.
