A decade into the energy transition, the central question is no longer whether to electrify but how fast, and what it means for the wider system. In this keynote I look at what the next ten years demand of the North Sea energy system: the interplay between electrification and system integration, the evolving role of different energy carriers, and the choices policymakers and industry face as demand grows and the system reorganises around electricity. I draw on recent European evidence to set out where the real opportunities and constraints lie.
